Club Tryout Season

WHEN ARE TRYOUTS?

• Check the flyer below for dates for each age group, as well as make-up dates.

HOW DO I REGISTER FOR TRYOUTS?

WHAT IS PACKET PICKUP?

• Packet pickup is a MANDATORY part of the tryout process. Click the Mandatory Tryout Packet Pickup link above to learn more. At packet pickup, athletes will pick up their tryout number, complete required athletic testing, and determine their uniform sizes. Athletic testing will include height and reach measurements as well as vertical testing and a timed sprint, so athletic clothes and tennis shoes are required. We will have club staff on site to answer any tryout and club season questions you may have. 

WHAT IS THE REGISTRATION DEADLINE FOR TRYOUTS?

• The deadline for 10-14U is Wednesday, October 1st at midnight. The deadline for 15-18U is Wednesday, October 22nd at midnight.

WHICH AGE GROUP SHOULD MY PLAYER SIGN UP FOR?

• See the USAV Age Chart below. 

DO I NEED A USAV MEMBERSHIP TO TRY OUT?

• You MUST have a USAV membership to try out for club. The link below takes you to the Delta Region Website so you can renew or obtain your membership. USAV has changed its policy on refunds for memberships, so please read the information carefully, before choosing which membership is right for you.  

CAN I WALK UP TO TRYOUTS WITHOUT REGISTERING AHEAD OF TIME?

• No, due to the amount of preparation time our staff needs for tryouts, walk-ups will not be accepted for the regular tryout dates. Players who miss the registration deadline will have to attend the make-up date.
• Walk-up registrations are only allowed at make-up tryouts due to the layout of those tryouts and the limited number of players in attendance. 

ARE TRYOUT FEES REFUNDABLE IF I END UP NOT ATTENDING?

• No, tryout fees are non-refundable due to the time and effort invested by administration and coaches in preparation for this season’s tryouts. 

WHAT IF I WANT TO TRY OUT BUT I CAN'T MAKE THE TRYOUT DATE?

• Players who can not attend the tryout date should attend the make-up tryout date for their age group. Players who absolutely can not attend the tryout date or make-up date (due to unchangeable travel plans, living in Arkansas, etc.) should contact Assistant Club Director, Allison Clausel, ASAP at Allison@MemphisJuniors.com to make alternate arrangements for your player to be evaluated. 

CAN PARENTS/SIBLINGS ATTEND TRYOUTS?

• The beginning of tryouts are closed; only players, coaches/evaluators, and club directors will be present. Parents are welcome to enter the gym & watch for the final 30 minutes of play

WHERE ARE TRYOUTS BEING HELD?

• Tryouts will be held at our incredible facility at 237 Woodland Lake Drive, Cordova, TN 38018 (P7 Sports Academy). We look forward to welcoming you into our world-class 8-court facility.

MJVA is proud to start the Fair Tryout Pledge in the Midsouth. By signing the Fair Tryout Pledge, MJVA is committing to providing a tryout experience for athletes and their families that is fair and free from unnecessary pressure. The Fair Tryout Pledge states:

“In the spirit of fairness and alliance with other like-minded clubs in the Midsouth area, we pledge to provide a tryout experience that enables families the opportunity to make the best decision for their family, free from unnecessary pressure. We pledge to support you, not rush you and to provide you facts, not ultimatums. Stated another way, this means we pledge not to subject any athlete or their family to coercive, manipulative or other such pressure tactics to secure a commitment."

Additionally, we encourage athletes to try out at any club they want before making their club commitment. This is an important decision and families should feel comfortable about where they are playing and who they are playing for.

We encourage all clubs in the Midsouth area to join us in our Fair Tryout Pledge. Look for the fair tryout badge on the websites of participating clubs. We encourage you to support clubs who take the pledge, which include:
